Associate Lighting Designer & Programmer

Nautilus Entertainment Design (NED) is seeking an Associate Lighting Designer & Programmer to work in our San Diego, CA office. NED designs lighting for corporate events, hospitality, themed environments, and entertainment venues worldwide. This position is intended to support our Lighting Designers and if the candidate proves capable, eventually proceed to a Lighting Designer position.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Drafting in AutoCAD – lighting plots, mounting details, circuiting layouts, etc.
• Developing lighting schedules, equipment lists, circuiting schedules, etc.
• Budgeting of lighting system designs.
• Lighting programing for corporate events and themed environments.
• Coordination of internal designs between other disciplines (audio, video, control).
• Ongoing internal reviews of designs in conjunction with other NED team members to maintain high standards of work product.
• Review and comment on contractor shop and installation drawings
• Position requires with willingness and availability to travel often for weeks at a time.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in technical theatre or equivalent professional experience.
• Practical experience in entertainment & live event production (Minimum 3yrs experience).
• Grand MA console programing experience (other consoles also encouraged).
• Current ability to work in AutoCAD.
• Ability to legally work in the United States.
• Valid Passport and ability to travel internationally.
• Valid US driver’s license.
• Self-motivated with excellent communication skills in client facing position.
• Team player with the ability to work with others.
