A lighting designer wears many hats. He or she is part artist, craftsperson, visionary, collaborator, technologist, communicator, economist, businessperson and sometimes psychologist all rolled into one. The designer must not only determine the creative challenges of a project but also determine and understand their limitations with respect to cost, venue and schedule.

They must not only know which instrument to use but where that lighting source should come from, how it is rigged, focused, colored, and cued. Like a good script, lighting designers support the story in order to bring a successful reality to the client’s vision. No two projects are the same and each requires a different approach, attitude and mind-set.

With over 30 years of experience, NED intuitively knows how to approach each project. We pride ourselves in knowing the needs of our clients and weighing creativity with the sensitivities of schedule, budget and location.
