Qualcomm MuseumIES 2012 - Commendable Achievement in Lighting Design
Infocomm 2011 - Best Corporate AV ProjectNautilus Entertainment Design provided lighting design and A/V system design for the Qualcomm Museum including over 16 large format interactive video kiosks and an integrated control system. The museum was designed to celebrate the 25 years of technological advancements of the company. Guests are invited to interactively explore the history as well as the future possibilities of Qualcomm technology.
The “Historical Timeline” display area (photos on right) contains what the team referred to as Wave Walls. Each of the eight Wave Walls was designed to house a combination of video tiles and Qualcomm historical artifacts. The highlight of the “Future Area” (bottom left photo") contains a flush mounted, curved video wall thirteen feet wide by four feet high. -
Hewlett PackardITU, 2006-Hong Kong
Although this project looks like a permanent architectural installation, it is a temporary exhibit. With approximately 9,150 square feet of space, the ground floor housed an exhibit of HP products and technology, while upstairs there were 13 conference rooms and a hospitality café that seated 40 people. NED provided lighting design services for all aspects of the exhibit interior and exterior. This project was truly a cross-over between architectural and exhibit lighting.
The exterior of the structure consisted of large glass panels screened with small frosted dots, which when illuminated, created a varying opaque/translucent effect.
The upper floor hallways and hospitality café were lit with 25 custom cylindrical pendant fixtures that combined linear T5 fluorescent lamps, circular fluorescents for uplighting the ceiling and a single halogen downlight. Additional accent lighting was provided by custom wall-mounted dual head halogen fixtures. -
